The brilliant news of Alexandre Lacazette’s imminent arrival at The Emirates has been somewhat dampened by rumours that the Frenchman may miss the beginning of pre-season with his new club.

A report from Football London stated: ‘As it stands it looks unlikely that Lacazette will be on the plane with the rest of the squad on Sunday because he has to return home after completing his transfer to tie up any loose ends ahead of his move to England. Arsenal are planning for him to fly over to link up with the squad in Sydney later next week.’

While it may not be the END of the world that Lacazette will miss out on the beginning of pre-season, it still remains a shame the Frenchman cannot begin the new phase of his career with the Gunners as soon as possible.

Integrating with team-mates and training with the squad is a vital part of the moving/adapting process, so to cut – albeit only the very start – some of that out is disappointing.

Arsenal take on Sydney FC on Thursday, July 13, before they play Western Sydney Wanderers two days later before The Gunners then fly onto China for matches against Bayern Munich and Chelsea, meaning by the time Lacazette is to join up with his new team-mates, he will have had very little time to adapt and get to know them before he is more than likely thrown in at the deep end with game time.

A very unlikely scenario, but that missed time could have a knock-on effect on the France international’s career in Red. no doubt he will succeed, but adapting now might take just a little while longer.
