Former Arsenal star Nigel Winterburn believes Alexandre Lacazette is like a modern day Ian Wright.

The Gunners club-record signing has been firing on all cylinders at home for his new club.

Lacazette made it four goals in his first three games in front of The Emirates faithful after netting a brace against West Brom on Monday night.

The striker appears to have settled in well to the Premier League and Arsenal legend Nigel Winterburn says the Frenchman reminds him of the Gunners’ favourite Ian Wright.

He told Sky Sports: “To come to a new team, like Alvaro Morata at Chelsea, and start producing straight away, is a massive bonus.

Ian Wright scored 128 league goals for Arsenal.

“He’s more Wright than (Thierry) Henry. Thierry wasn’t your classic centre-forward. Henry drifted into wide areas, picked the ball up, unbelievable pace and great close control.

“He scored from outside the box while Wrighty would produce something in and around the box.

“You’d never know what he was going to do and Lacazette looks similar. And if he can produce the goals that Wrighty produced, then I think the Arsenal fans will be very, very happy.”

Lacazette has a long way to go to reach Wright’s stature. The Englishman netted more than 200 times for the club between 1991 and 1998.

However, the 26 year-old appears to be the deadly striker Arsenal fans have been crying out for since the departure of Robin van Persie in 2012.
