Lacazette’s Arsenal career is as good as done, claims ex-Gunner

Alexandre Lacazette’s Arsenal career is all but over believes Emmanuel Petit.

The star striker who arrived last month appears setto take a backseat to new ace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Arsenal paid Lyon a club-record fee of £52m for Lacazette last summer, but that deal has already been eclipsed by the arrival of Aubameyang for £55m from Borussia Dortmund.

Lacazette, whose baron run in front of goal has seen him net just once in his last 10, was just dropped to the bench as Arsenal thumped Everton 5-1 last weekend.

And former Gunners midfielder Petit reckons the Arsene Wenger has lost faith in the Frenchman.

“Lacazette is under massive pressure,” said Petit. “He needs to improve or face the exit this summer.

“Aubameyang’s signing tells me it might already be too late. Arsene Wenger’s belief in Lacazette has gone.”

“After six months his statistics are not exactly tremendous,” Petit told the Sun. “Auba is exactly the man Arsenal need.”

Aubameyang is likely to get the nod when Arsenal travel to Wembley for an all important North London Derby on Saturday.

The Gabon international scored 13 times in 15 Bundesliga appearances this season and has already got off the mark for his new club.
