Liverpool expected to pip Arsenal in race for £92m-star

Lemar has scored 2 and assisted 6 in Ligue 1 this season

According to reports, Liverpool are winning the race for Thomas Lemar’s signature ahead of Arsenal.

The Frenchman has been a longtime target of the Gunners and Liverpool. Arsene Wenger’s side failed to secure the forward last summer despite submitting a substantial offer of £92m to Monaco.

Yet, the Ligue 1 outfit rejected the deadline day move and Lemar stayed put.

After an impressive season so far, it appears both Liverpool are now in pole position to sign the France international.

ESPN say Jurgen Klopp is a keen admirer of Lemar and apparently views him as a long-term replacement for Philippe Coutinho.

The report also claims Atletico Madrid are also keeping a close eye on Lemar’s progress, but Liverpool remain in the driving seat to secure his signature when the transfer window reopens.

Monaco’s No 27 has scored twice and assisted seven so far this season.
