Man City set to test Arsenal’s nerve with New Year bid

Sanchez had been Arsenal's talisman before things turned sour

According to reports, Manchester City will launch a bid in the region of £50million to bring Alexis Sanchez to the Etihad in January.

The Chilean has six months remaining on his current deal with the club and will leave for free if he fails to sign a new deal.

Many expect Sanchez to see out the remaining months of his current deal after Arsene Wenger revealed neither the forward or Mesut Ozil will be sold for a cut-price in the New Year.

Manchester City came close to signing the Chile international on transfer deadline day this summer. The two clubs had agreed a £60m deal, but the move fell through after Arsenal failed to land a suitable replacement.

Sanchez, who is beginning to pick up form for Wenger’s side would be eligible to compete in the Champions League should he quit the north Londoner’s next month.

A £50m offer could persuade Arsenal to cash in.
