Not only are Arsenal interested in Jackson Martinez, but Manchester United have stolen a march on the Gunners in their pursuit of the former Chiapas forward, that is according to the Daily Star.

Apparently, Louis van Gaal had his spies watching the Porto striker as he found the back of the net against Moreiense in his side’s 2-0 win.

Given that Martinez is 28-years-old, and would command a considerable fee, you have to question just how strong Arsene Wenger’s interest in. However, the Colombian international’s phenomenal record of 85 goals in 120 appearances is enough to make any manager stand up and take note.

Links with Martinez have been doing rounds for several seasons now, and you have to question as to why the striker has never found himself at a top club in the Premier League, Serie A, La Liga or the Bundesliga.

Would it be fair to say that Martinez, who has seven goals in his last 11 Champions League appearances, is a more prolific Olivier Giroud? You lot know better than me.
