Manchester United are keen to hand Arsenal a huge blow in the summer market with a swoop for Gunners ace Mesut Ozil, Football London reports.

The 28-year-old World Cup winner has seen his future with the Gunners shrouded in speculation this season as he’s entered the final 18 months of his deal at the Emirates Stadium and appears to be no closer to penning a new deal.

As such, a number of top sides in Europe are monitoring the situation and plotting potential swoops this summer- with Manchester United surprisingly being one of the club’s interested in his services.

Jose Mourinho worked with Ozil during the pair’s time at Real Madrid but he’d have to pay a hefty-sum to secure the German’s services, as Arsenal will certainly not want to sell to a rival following the losses of key players in recent years.

The Gunners have seen the likes of Robin Van Persie, Samir Nasri, Emmanuel Adebayor and Cesc Fabregas all line-up for rival sides following their departures from the Emirates Stadium and the North London giants have no financial need to approve a sale.

However, with Manchester United splashing a world-record fee of £89m last summer to land Paul Pogba, the Red Devils certainly have an abundance of funds available to make a deal happen.
