According to reports, Manchester United officials have expressed regret over the Alexis Sanchez transfer.

The Chilean who arrived in January has failed to hit the high standards he set during his time at the Emirates.

Sanchez ran his contract down to within just a few months of expiry in order to force a move to Old Trafford. He signed a four-year deal with United on a lucrative contract. However, the forward has scored just once in the league since his straight swap for Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

And now Spanish publication El Pais claim that United executives expressed ‘regret’ over the signing of Sanchez during a dinner party in London.

His failure to deliver on the pitch has brought more attention to United’s outlay on him. This includes a huge signing on fee, the loss of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and further stress on the wage structure which is rumoured to have caused friction in the dressing room.
