Arsneal are reportedly confident in signing Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian this summer.

Should he remain in charge, it appears Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is already drawing up plans to strengthen his defensive options.

Arsenal have been at time embarrassing at the back this season and eye Darmian as a man to help shore up the defence.

The Gunners are also worrying over Hector Bellerin’s future at the Emirates. The defender was recently dropped by Wenger for poor form, while Barcelona are said to be monitoring his progress.

Yet, Goal suggests Darmian has become a serious target for Arsenal and the north London giants are confident of landing the Italy international.

Darmian has only managed 13 appearances in all competitions for United this term and Jose Mourinho is open to selling the Italian. The 28-year-old is tied into a deal with the Red Devils until the summer of 2019.

Gooners, is Darmian good enough? Let us know in the comments…
