Manchester United have made an audacious attempt to snatch Alexis Sanchez from under the noses of Manchester City, reports say.
The Chilean has been expected to link up with former boss Pep Guardiola for some time. City’s efforts to sign him last summer fell through, but Sanchez, who is approaching the end of his contract with Arsenal, has been tipped for a move to the Etihad either in January or at the end of the season.
However, the latest reports claim Jose Mourinho’s side have entered the race to sign the Chile international and have bid in the region of £25m.
The article also claims Mourinho is confident in signing Sanchez and is ready to offer Henrikh Mkhytarayan as part of an exchange.
Whether City respond remains to be seen. After it was confirmed Gabriel Jesus will be sidelined for two months, Guardiola’s side were suggested to be readying an offer to bring Sanchez for a cut-price this month.
