Against the odds, Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has started every game so far this season.

The former PSG youngster, who arrived from Lorient for £7m during the summer and was tipped as a star of the future, with his game time expected to be limited.

However, Unai Emery has shown early faith in his ability and the talented Frenchman has become an instant hit with the Emirates faithful.

Guendouzi has managed to keep Mohamed Elneny and fellow new signing Lucas Torreira at bay and the midfielder has revealed the secret to his early success.

“I had a good pre-season, I was illustrated during the preparation matches in Singapore,” he said (via the Star).

“I think it weighed in the balance and it gave me the opportunity to start the league games.

Guendouzi has started all four games in the Premier League

“I knew how to answer this. It’s up to me to keep working so that the team can win as many games as possible.

“In any case, at Arsenal, I have everything to progress. And we have everything to make a great season.”

The energetic midfielder will be hoping to start when Arsenal travel to Newcastle this weekend.

Guendouzi knows he must continue his current vain of form if he’s to keep his place.

“In this English championship, there are great players from everywhere, it’s impressive,” he added.

“But I did it fast enough, it’s the most important.

“It’s up to me to stay regular. This is just the beginning.”
