Managerless Arsenal are now nine games without victory following a shock 2-1 home defeat to Brighton.

Mesut Ozil and Granit Xhaka look dejected after Brighton defeat

In the aftermath of the disappointing result, Mesut Ozil was caught angrily gesturing to Alexandre Lacazette as the player’s headed down for the tunnel.

Both Ozil and Lacazette started the match on Thursday night as Freddie Ljungberg took charge of his first match in front of the Arsenal faithful.

Lacazette had scored early in the second-half to cancel out Adam Webster’s first-half strike, but Neal Maupay headed Brighton’s winner with 10 minutes to go.

After the game, Ozil remonstrated with his team-mate, who was out of picture, and threw his arm up in exasperation.

He appeared to yell ‘Laca!’ to the striker but was ignored as he walked towards the tunnel at the Emirates.

There was a toxic atmosphere at full-time with boos from the home supporters reverberating in the ears of the Arsenal players.
