Mesut Ozil is playing well to seal a big move away from Arsenal.

That’s according to Gunners legend Ian Wright who is sceptical as to why the German has come good in recent weeks.

After a poor start, Ozil has scored three and provided five assists in the Premier League. He was on hand to score a sublime volley last weekend to give Arsenal a 1-0 victory over Newcastle at the Emirates.

The playmaker enjoyed a relatively quiet summer, with much of the spotlight shone on teammate Alexis Sanchez. But Ozil has taken centre-stage this season and consequently is being strongly linked with a move to Manchester United.

“Mesut Ozil is finally becoming the player everybody hoped he would be from day one at Arsenal,” said Wright (via the Star).

“Sure, it’s great to see at the moment but it also makes me feel that there is only one reason for it — he is gearing up to leave.

“It is no coincidence that Ozil (right) turns it on just as January is looming in the final year of his deal when he becomes free to talk to other clubs.

“I hope I’m wrong but I fear I’m right, right, right.

“Given the timing of his sudden improvement I would be stunned if Ozil signs a new deal and stays at Arsenal.”

The Gunners currently lie 5th in the table and 19 points behind runaway league leaders Manchester City.

Gooners, should sealing a top four place with an FA Cup be enough to see Ozil extend? Let us know in the comments…
