Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has revealed what went down on his first day at Arsenal.

In a shock deal, Ozil arrived for £42.5m from Real Madrid in the summer of 2013. Since joining Arsenal, the playmaker has recorded the most assists in the Premier League.

The German signed a three-and-a-half year contract extension back in February and has stated he can see himself spending the rest of his career at Arsenal.

Ozil famously announced his delight in his first Arsenal press conference, telling the world’s media: “I would have come here for free, that wouldn’t have been a problem.”

In a recent interview with the club’s official website, the 30 year-old opened up on  what happened when he first touched down in the UK and turned up at London Colney.

Ozil has racked up nearly 150 Premier League appearances for Arsenal

“When I first arrived here I was very excited and a little bit nervous as well,” said Ozil.

“It was always a new chapter and at the end of the day I was very happy to play for such a big club like Arsenal and meet all my team-mates.

“When I first arrived at the training ground, outside there were so many people. They were waiting for me. It was very special and it was a very good moment for me.

“The feeling was amazing, even the first game at the Emirates was so special for me. All the fans supported me until now and I’m really grateful and appreciative of that.”

Gooners, what should Ozil’s goals and assist target be? Let us know in the comments…
