Mikel Arteta responds to reports surrounding Matteo Guendouzi training ground spat

Matteo Guendouzi was dropped from the Arsenal team that thrashed Newcastle 4-0 on Sunday.

The Arsenal youngster Matteo Guendouzi was reportedly involved in a training ground spat with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta during the club’s recent trip to Dubai for the winter break.

According to The Telegraph, Guendouzi was involved in a heated argument with Arteta and several members of the coaching team. The row continued at the team hotel later in the day.

Guendouzi was Subsequently dropped by Arteta for the 4-0 demolition of Newcastle.

The young Gunners midfielder looked as if the issue was behind him as he prepared for the first leg of his side’s Europa League round of 32 clash with Olympiakos on Thursday.

And Arteta looks to have put the situation behind him also as he quickly shut down any talk of a bust up.

Arteta said: “I just do my selection in regard to how they train, play and behave. It was about the way we train.”
