Unai Emery’s relationship with Mesut Ozil continues to be unsavoury.
The German has started just 13 of Arsenal’s 26 Premier League fixtures this season but remains one of the most influential players in north London.
Ozil missed out in Arsenal’s 2-1 win at Huddersfield Town on Saturday with illness – his seventh sick note since the beginning of last season.
Boss Emery reportedly lost the dressing during his time with PSG after clashing with Neymar and Gunners legend Ray Parlour fears a similar situation could play out at the Emirates with Ozil.
Parlour said: It’s been a little bit like PSG with Neymar.’
‘Neymar ended up getting Emery the sack.
‘He lost the dressing room and Neymar was pulling the strings there. Maybe it could be the same at Arsenal.’
The Gunners currently sit a point off 4th place in the race for a Champions League spot, but do also have the Europa League as a direct route to Europe’s elite competition.
Securing Champions League football will likely keep Emery in his current role, with or without Ozil.
