Arsenal midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has admitted that his side have been handed a huge advantage after the switching of today’s Europa League clash with Vorskla Poltava to neutral Kiev.

The Gunners were due to play out the contest with their opponents in Poltava, but following the Ukranian government imposing martial law, the Gunners are now set to face their Group E opponents at the Olympiyskiy Stadium 185 miles closer to home instead.

And Mkhi believes the decision has handed Arsenal a huge equaliser.

He said: “We are ready to play in Poltava. We are ready to play in Kiev. Of course, for Poltava it is a big disadvantage because they wanted to play at home.”

He said: “UEFA said to us that we can play here because it is safer. We need to respect UEFA’s decision. It is not easy for Vorskla or for UEFA, this decision.

“We were preparing our trip to Poltava and waiting in the evening for the decision. We changed the training in London and are we are arriving now, just. But we respect the decision.”
