Mohamed Elneny appears to have said his farewells to Arsenal after posting an emotional message on social media.

The Egyptian has barely featured under new boss Unai Emery this season. Elneny has appeared just once in the Premier League with Europa League matches being his main source of game time.

Last month, his former coach in Egyptian football, Hamdy Nouh, urged Elneny to leave the club, telling Goal.com : “He needs to leave Arsenal in the next transfer market, at least on loan to play more and regain his confidence.

Elneny arrived from Basel in January 2016. The defensive midfielder has remained a squad player ever since, with his highest tally for the season standing at 14 matches played.

Three years on from his £10m move, the 26 year-old posted two tweets which caught the attention of fans.

He wrote: “The 14th of Jan is a day that will always be engraved in my heart,” tweeted Elneny. “Three years ago, on this same day, I joined the Arsenal family.

“I call it family, because it is how it’s like to be here at Arsenal. I’m grateful for every single moment during those three years, the tough moments and the many happy ones.

“I’m grateful for the one of a kind fans, for the coaches, for the colleagues who became real brothers, for everyone.. I’m grateful for the past and I’m very much looking forward to the future.”

It looks like the DM is now heading towards the exit door.
