Nacho Monreal has insisted he’s not concerned about his role at Arsenal ahead of the new season.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with a deal for Celtic’s Kieran Tierney. Arsenal are understood to have failed with two bids for the SPL full-back who would act as a like-for-like replace for Monreal.

Meanwhile, Arsenal activated a one-year extension clause in Monreal’s contract midway through last season but that has not stopped him from being linked with a move to Real Sociedad.

The defender spent much of last season playing second fiddle to Sead Kolasinac and the inclusion of Tierney could push Monreal further down the pecking order.

Nacho Monreal appeared 22 times in the Premier League for Arsenal in 2018/19

However, the Spaniard, who’s spent the past six-and-a-half years at The Emirates, says he’s happy at Arsenal.

Monreal said: “I belong at Arsenal. I have a contract and my idea is to continue playing for them.

“I am not worried about the size of the squad.

“Petr Cech decided to retire and we’ve lost Aaron Ramsey, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Danny Welbeck.

“But I know the club is looking 100 per cent for players and I am sure they will come.”
