Mesut Ozil has missed the last three matches and could be forced to sit out of Saturday’s clash with Huddersfield Town.

The playmaker has not been since Arsenal’s 2-1 victory at Bournemouth a fortnight ago.

Ozil, who was dropped for the game, has since been suffering back spasms which ruled him out of the Europa League clash against Vorskla Poltava, Sunday’s win over Tottenham and Wednesday night’s 2-2 draw at Manchester United.

And according to the Unai Emery, the next 24 hours will decide as to whether the German will be fit and ready for Saturday’s 3 o’clock kick-off.

On Ozil’s possible return, Emery said: “This morning he worked with the physiotherapist on the pitch, running and touching the ball. [Friday] will be the decision.”

So far Emery has coped fairly without his talisman. The Spaniard’s appointment in May has proven to be a shrewd one and he’s enjoying his first season in England, with his side sitting fifth in the table.
