Martin Odegaard has responded to claims that Arsenal are under pressure to maintain their form, after the Gunners’ shock position at the top of the league.

THE LOWDOWN: DIFFERENT ARSENAL

Arsenal have been a different side with outstanding results this season compared to previous ones.

The Gunners started with a five-game winning streak and after 18 matches, Mikel Arteta’s men are still top of the league ahead of defending champions Manchester City.

Ben White spoke about the team’s mentality that has changed and it is quite true, given the results they have managed to pull against the big sides this season.

THE LATEST: ENJOYING THE PRESSURE

Arsenal skipper Martin Odegaard believes the pressure of being league leaders comes naturally but insists the group enjoy it.

Arsenal, who are yet to win the Premier League since 2004 and have not made it to the Champions League since 2017, are aiming to rewrite all of that by the end of the season.

Having finished fifth last season, the Gunners came into the season to challenge for the top-four spot, but they could achieve even more if they keep winning matches.

However, Odegaard insists they are enjoying the pressure that comes with leading the standings.

He said to Arsenal Vision Podcast: “To be honest, we enjoy the pressure.

“We feel that people believe in us. To feel that people take us seriously is a good thing. We are where we want to be and we want to fight to win things, we want to be at the top, it’s where this club should be.

“We’re in a good position at the moment but we have to stay calm, we have to stay humble, we have to keep working hard. There are still so many things we can improve. That’s one of the best things, you know, we can always get better.”

THE VERDICT: CALM RESPONSE

Odegaard has been a calm figure in the Arsenal team, so it is not surprising that the team enjoys the pressure they undergo at the moment.

They still have a long way to go but they have handled the pressure quite well.
