Olivier Giroud was forced to leave Arsenal in search of regular football. And after making the switch to Chelsea last month, the Frenchman claims he is already benefiting from his move to West London.

Giroud registered an impressive performance in Chelsea’s 3-0 dispatching of West Brom on Monday night including an assist to Eden Hazard.

Antonio Conte utilises a three man attack, with both wingers operating in close proximity to the lead frontman.

And Giroud, who arrived at Stamford Bridge for £18m says he’s finding life on the pitch easier under new boss Conte’s tactics.

‘We try to have a good understanding on the pitch,’ said the France international.

Olivier Giroud left Arsenal in January.

‘Everything was not perfect because it was the first game. I’m happy but there is still room for improvement. I was very happy to set up the goal for Eden.

‘It’s simple to have a good understanding with him because he smells the game, he smells football. With him, Pedro, Willian or whoever plays as the number 10, we always try to have a good understanding.

‘It’s easy for me because the two number 10s play closer [to me] than I’ve played in the past, and that’s very important for our game.’

Giroud scored over 100 goals in a five-and-a-half year spell at the Emirates. The 6 ft 4″ striker was granted his move to the Bridge after the Gunners secured Borussia Dortmund ace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for a club-record £55m.
