David Ospina has joined Napoli on loan.

The Italian club have the option to buy the goalkeeper from Arsenal on a permanent basis following his season in Serie A.

Gunners boss Unai Emery today confirmed that new goalkeeper Bernd Leno would have to wait for his chance at the club as Petr Cech remains his number one goalie this season.

Leno’s arrival though has left no room for Ospina. The Colombian has struggled to nail down a starting place since his arrival in 2014.

Napoli had been linked with a move for Liverpool’s Simon Mignolet. However, the Serie A side have instead signed Ospina having held talks with representatives of the 29-year-old.

As aforementioned, there is an option-to-buy for a fee which is around €8m, but no obligation if Napoli decide they don’t want to next summer.
