Arsenal loanee David Ospina has declared he will give his all to retain the No.1 spot at Napoli.

The Colombian is set to face heavy competition for a starting place now that fellow new signing Alex Meret has returned to full fitness.

Ospina, 30, joined the Italians in the summer after being frozen out of the first-team picture at the Emirates and has featured in seven matches so far this term.

The goalkeeper’s had a hand in Napoli chasing the coattails of league leaders Juventus and he insists he will not be content with a place on the bench each week.

“It’s good for Napoli to have everyone available,” the shot-stopper told Corriere dello Sport (via talkSPORT).

“Alex is a talent, and we all have to be ready. I have to do my best to convince the Coach [Carlo Ancelotti]. I’m here to play, as everyone must do.”

Arsenal replaced Ospina with Bernd Leno this summer. Like his predecessor, the Germany shot-stopper is making the most of Petr Cech’s absence and could maintain his place once the veteran returns from injury.
