Mesut Ozil has Arsenal right where he wants them.

That’s according to Jamie Redknapp who claims the Germany international holds the cards when discussing a new deal.

Ozil will be out of contract with the Gunners at the end of the season and will be able to leave for free.

The German has been linked with a move to Manchester United for several months and could follow in the footsteps of soon to be Red Devil Alexis Sanchez.

Arsenal are expected to bolster their attack before the end of the month with the club nearing deals for Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubayemang.

However, Redknapp says Ozil will be in no rush to sign a new deal now he knows the club cannot risk losing him this month.

Arsenal are in talks to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.

“After their surrender at Bournemouth last week, I argued in these pages that it was the worst Arsenal team I had seen,” he told theĀ Daily Mail.

“On Saturday, Arsenal needed just 22 minutes to go 4-0 up against Crystal Palace. The difference? Mesut Ozil.

Without Ozil and Alexis Sanchez last weekend, it was a worrying glimpse of the future for Arsenal says Redknapp.

“Against Palace, they proved that with Ozil and Jack Wilshere they can blow teams away and it is vital that Arsene Wenger gets them both signed up

The Gunners dispatched Crystal Palace 4-1 on Saturday.

“Ozil has Arsenal where he wants them.”

“Now Sanchez has gone, he knows the club cannot risk losing him.”

Arsene Wenger seems confident both Ozil and Jack Wilshere will sign new deals in the coming weeks.

Arsenal take on Chelsea on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup semi-final.
