Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin has likened Mesut Ozil’s new deal to a new player arriving at the Emirates.

Last week saw Ozil signed a new three-and-a-half year deal with the club in a contract that will see him earn £350,000-per-week.

The Gunners ace has performed superbly in the weeks leading to becoming Arsenal’s highest paid player.

And full back Bellerin believes there’s ‘exciting’ times ahead following Ozil’s new deal.

“Everyone in the training ground, everyone in the team knew he was going to stay,” the 22-year-old told the Evening Standard (via Sports Mole). “He is a guy that loves London, loves Arsenal and he always gets really angry when things don’t go well so you know how much it means for him to win or lose for this club.

“It is as exciting as a new signing. To have a player with his qualities and all he brings to the team to sign for a few more years, it is really exciting for Arsenal and for the fans.”

Ozil decided to commit to an extension despite interest from Manchester United and Barcelona. The playmaker who has claimed 49 Premier League assists – the most from any player since 2013 – will be desperate to add to his three FA Cups claimed with Arsenal.
The Gunners have a League Cup final tie with Manchester City on the February 25.
