Former Manchester United and England midfielder Ray Wilkins has tipped Jose Mourinho to steer clear of Mesut Ozil.

Ozil has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for some time and could be the subject of a January bid.

With his contract set to expire in June, the German will be available for a cut-price in the New Year. However, Arsene Wenger has insisted neither Ozil or Alexis Sanchez will be sold before the end of the season.

Despite Wenger’s stance, that hasn’t stopped the rumours, particularly after Ozil and Mourinho were successful together during their time at Real Madrid.

But Wilkins believes Mourinho won’t be looking to work with the German this time around.

“Mesut Ozil won’t go to Old Trafford because he doesn’t have the work ethic that Mourinho looks for in his players,” Wilkins told sportingbet (via teamtalk).

“I actually see Willian as being the likely player to head to Old Trafford. Jose is an enormous admirer of Willian and he would be a special signing for United, but I pray that Chelsea don’t let him go.”
