Patrick Vieira is in pole position to become Unai Emery’s successor, according to reports in France.

French newspaper Nice-Matin reveal that the Nice boss has impressed chiefs at the Emirates and he is now being viewed as a serious candidate to be Emery’s successor at the Emirates Stadium.

Vieira is reportedly considering this interest from his former club, where he played from 1996 to 2005.

Under contract with OGC Nice until 2021, he is enjoying himself on the Côte D’Azur, a region where he notably got married in, despite a so far disappointing season in terms of results and a growing number of critics.

Patrick Vieira is rumoured to be a consideration as Emery’s replacement

The south-of-France side are languishing in the lower half of the table after 8 defeats in Ligue 1 so far.

A number of candidates have been linked to the vacant Arsenal post with Mikel Arteta, Nuno Espirito Santo, Massimiliano Allegri and Brendan Rodgers other names associated with the job.

Gooners, would Vieira be a good choice as Arsenal’s new head coach? Let us know in the comments…
