Patrick Vieira believes he is ready to take on the challenge of replacing Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.

The Gunners legend was tipped by Wenger last week to become manager. And with the boss set to step down at the end of the season, Vieira could succeed now the 68 year-old.

Vieira is still a hero at the club where he won three Premier League titles and four FA Cups.

According to reports, his name has been branded around the Arsenal board over who should take over at the end of the season.

The World Cup winner is currently employed by New York City FC who he has turned into a serious MLS contender.

Goal.com asked Vieira on Tuesday how he had improved as a coach from the start of his NYCFC tenure to now.

And the former Gunners star responded to the question as to whether he’s ready to make the step up to Arsenal.

Vieira said: “If the question is if I’m ready,” Vieira said. “Yes I’m ready.”

The 41 year-old has revealed he has not been contacted by the club who are set to take on Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final this week.
