Paul Scholes believes Mesut Ozil is there for the taking for Manchester United to sign him.
Despite Arsenal’s struggle for creativity this season, Ozil has been cast out by Unai Emery.
The playmaker has only made two appearances for the Gunners this campaign after falling out of favour and it is now widely thought that the 31 year-old will leave the Emirates Stadium during the January transfer window.
Ozil is currently earning £350,000-a-week and only a team with elite financial muscle would be able to afford him.
Paul Scholes has claimed that United “could do with someone like Ozil”, hinting at a possible move for the German, who could be a ‘short-term answer’ for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side
“Man Utd could do with someone like Ozil who can link a team together,’ Scholes told BT Sport. “[He is] a player who can link teams together. He has got great quality, he’s shown that in his career.
“He could be an answer short-term, I don’t know. I think that would be up to him, ultimately. I can’t [see it happening], but he’s the type of player, short-term, who United could do with.”
Ozil has a contract with Arsenal until the summer of 2021.
