Petr Cech admits mistake following Brighton defeat

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech is the latest player to come out an apologise to the fans following another defeat on the road.

Arsene Wenger’s side lost 2-1 to Brighton on Sunday as the Seagulls condemned Arsenal to their 10th defeat of the season.

Cech was at fault for both Brighton goals at the Amex Stadium as the Gunners slipped to their fourth straight defeat in all competitions for the first time since 2002.

The veteran ‘keeper failed to clear a corner for the opener and was unable to fend off Glen Murray’s header for the second which managed to squirm underneath him.

Cech has since issued an apology to supporters exclaiming that his performance was not good enough.

He tweeted saying: “If you want to win a game away of home in the best league in the world your GK can’t concede 2 goals like I did today … it’s simply not possible … The team fought back but the damage was done.”

Cech is likely to be replaced by David Ospina for Arsenal’s Europa League last 16 first-leg trip to AC Milan on Thursday – though Gooners are hardly filled with confidence with Ospina between the sticks either.
