Philippe Coutinho will not be returning to the Premier League, despite Barcelona offering him to a number of English clubs in recent weeks.

Arsenal had been linked with a late move for the Brazilian who was phenomenal for Liverpool during his five year spell on Merseyside (2013-2018).

The 27-year-old Brazilian, who joined Barca from Liverpool in a deal worth £142m in January 2018 struggled to shine at the Camp Nou last season.

On Tuesday it was revealed that Spurs were considering a late move for Coutinho after Barcelona said they would allow him out on loan. On Wednesday, though, it was reported that the Brazilian would turn down the chance to join Tottenham.

Coutinho will not be moving to the Premier League this summer

He was previously understood to be open to a return to England, having fallen out of favour at Barcelona. Coutinho has been linked with a move to a number of Premier League sides, but none of Liverpool, Arsenal or United have taken the bait.

Barca had hoped to push through a move before the UK’s transfer deadline day, but it now seems certain Coutinho will only leave for a club outside the British Isles.
