Player Ratings – Arsenal vs Bournemouth

Walcott won three FA Cups with Arsenal.

Arsenal got back on track over the weekend following three consecutive draws.

The Gunners beat Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth 3-1 at The Emirates with the help of to two Alexis Sanchez goals. The forward continued his scintillating form as he netted his ninth and tenth league strikes either side of half time.

Sanchez struck early after pouncing on a stray pass from Steve Cook gifting the forward an early goal. The Cherries got back into the game after Callum Wilson was brought down by Nacho Monreal in the penalty area. Wilson stepped up to slot the ball home and make it 1-1 at half time.

In the second period the Gunners dispatched Bournemouth with goals from Theo Walcott and Sanchez again. Arsene Wenger’s side had won in the Premier League for the first time since October 29.

After drawing three of their last four league games to fall six points behind leaders Chelsea, this was an important win for fourth-placed Arsenal, who are now unbeaten in their last 19 matches in all competitions and firmly in the title race.

With the win finally in the bag, how did the boys get on? Here are Arsenal Mania’s player ratings…

DEFENCE

Petr Cech – 6 – The goalkeeper didn’t have an awful lot to do, but was reliable when called upon.

Nacho Monreal – 6 – It was a clumsy challenge to give away the penalty and there was a controversial handball shout not given. Worked the line well for the most part.

Laurent Koscielny – 7 – Led the line well and should be the permanent Arsenal captain

Shkodran Mustafi – 6 – Worked hard to keep his side in the game

Mattieu Debuchy – 5 – Unfortunate to pick up a hamstring injury just 15 minutes into his first Arsenal game in 12 months. Hopefully it’s nothing too serious.

MIDFIELD

Mohamed Elneny – 7 – A few classy passes to set up attacking opportunities. Showing his worth to the club.

Granit Xhaka – 5 – Had a very quiet game despite working hard to disrupt Bournemouth.

Mesut Ozil – 7 – His set pieces, assists, through balls and his passing were once again pivotal in this Arsenal win.

FORWARDS

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 6 – It was a big game for The Ox to cement a regular starting place ahead of Alex Iwobi. Unfortunately he didn’t do enough.

Theo Walcott – 7 – Took his goal nicely. The winger is on target to achieve his best season in an Arsenal shirt.

Sanchez – 9 – As influential as ever. The Chilean scored twice and set the tone with his infectious bulldog-like approach.
