Arsene Wenger says Jack Wilshere could be fit for Arsenal trip to Bournemouth on Sunday.

The midfielder limped off during the club’s goalless draw with Chelsea in midweek after suffering an ankle sprain.

Gooners have been bracing themselves for bad news, but it appears Wilshere’s injury is not as serious as first feared.

The 26 year-old, who has a endured a string of injury setbacks has shown superb form for Arsenal this season.

Wilshere could return to Bournemouth for the first time since leaving the club after a season’s long-loan last term.

As reported by the Mirror, Wenger said: ‘From Wednesday night, Jack was injured but we had good news. I saw him walking yesterday, he’s not yet out of the game on Sunday.

Last season, Wilshere’s stint on the south-coast was curtailed in March after suffering a fractured leg, but the England midfielder has since returned and forced his way into the Gunners first-team.

Wilshere is out of contract with the club at the end of the season, though he is expected to sign a new deal.
