Arsenal face a battle to keep one of their superstars on their hands in the final weeks of the transfer window as a Premier League rival are reportedly ready to make their move.

The Telegraph states Manchester City are preparing to test Arsenal’s resolve with a £60m bid for Alexis Sanchez before the transfer window closes at the end of the month, with Arsene Wenger consistently stating the Chilean ace will not be sold.

Despite Wenger’s claims, there is a belief that a deal could still go ahead as Arsenal risk losing Alexis Sanchez on a free transfer next summer if they do not approve a sale this month, as the two-time Copa America winner has entered the final 12 months of his deal.

Arsenal are determined not to sell to a Premier League rival but interest on the continent has cooled due to the South American ace’s wage demands, leaving the Gunners with little options.

Alexis is yet to make an appearance for Arsenal this season as he nurses a minor injury and seeks to return to fitness after a late return to pre-season training but fans will be concerned that they may have seen his last performance in the famous red and white jersey.
