Arsenal face a stern test this summer to significantly improve their ranks ahead of the next season and they’ve been told what they have to do by one prime target.

The Gunners are amongst a wealth of top sides seeking the signature of Monaco’s breakthrough star Kylian Mbappe this season, following the teenager’s tremendous rise with the Ligue 1 champions and Champions League semi-finalists.

An audacious sum will be required to prize the teenager from the French principality side and mouthwatering figures have been mentioned- but Arsenal remain in the hunt, boosted by Mbappe’s recent comments.

Quoted by Metro, Mbappe told BeIN Sports that he’s looking for regular first-team football at whichever side he’s representing next season.

‘I’ll be the only one who decides, along with my family. No one will decide for me. I won’t go anywhere where I have been told to go. It’ll be my choice, and I’ll back that choice,’

‘All I want to do is play. I’m at an age where I have to play. I’m not 35 or 36 years old towards the end of my career or where I have to be careful. I’m at an age where I have just started, I still have everything to prove.’

‘This year has been a year of ‘discovery,’ but the year coming up is one of confirmation. Once you have taken that step, there aren’t a billion steps left to take. This step is really important, and I will take the time to do it well and try to do it as quickly as possible.’

Mbappe would likely be the leading man at Arsenal, particularly if Alexis Sanchez leaves, but their failure to secure Champions League football may leave it difficult for the Gunners to complete a deal.
