Arsenal have faced a wealth of criticism over the course of the summer transfer window and heading into the new season, where the Gunners lost two consecutive matches before the international break.

Arsene Wenger’s side bounced-back this weekend with a 3-0 victory over Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium, courtesy of a brace from Danny Welbeck and Alexandre Lacazette’s second goal in Arsenal colours, but the jury remains out on the side.

Hector Bellerin reverted to his natural right-sided spot in the defence following Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s Deadline Day move to Liverpool, which allowed Sead Kolasinac to slot-in on the opposite flank, and had a solid game.

However midfielder-turned-pundit Kevin Kilbane has questioned whether the Spaniard, who attracted Barcelona’s interest over the summer, is good enough to stay in Arsenal’s first-choice XI and claimed the 21-year-old has declined dramatically in recent years.

Speaking to Irish radio, the former Sunderland man said:

“Hector Bellerin has gone from being one of the best right-backs in football to almost now thinking he’s not good enough to get in the Arsenal side. It’s incredible the decline in Bellerin.”

Bellerin has played every minute of Arsenal’s Premier League campaign so far this season and it looks unlikely to change, as the Gunners lack depth on the right-side of their defensive line.
