Ahead of tomorrow night’s UEFA Champions League tie at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium versus Sevilla, which will be refereed by Glenn Nyberg, I spoke to one of their supporters. Thank you to Jim from Monchi’s Men Forum for answering the questions!
How long have you supported Sevilla?
Since 2006 so over 17 years now.
What are your hopes and expectations for the 2023/24 season?
Hopes, we make a solid push for Europe again for next season. Expectations are probably to do better in the League and Copa del Rey than last year, and better performances.
What are your views on your manager?
Hard to comment as he only came in just over a week ago. A solid start with a 1-1 draw vs Real Madrid first game though.
Style of play and tactics – direct/passing/hybrid?
It’s a direct style, trying to get the ball wide for crosses. Our style has been a bit of a mess for a while now, so we are hoping the new manager brings something different.
One(s) to watch now and in the future?
One to watch right now is En-Nesyri. He can blow hot and cold, but in an instant, he can turn a game with a goal out of nowhere. His leap is ridiculous too.
Random fact about your Club?
Sevilla have actually won the Spanish League, albeit way back in the 1940s.
Which were your favourite and least favourite matches involving Sevilla?
My favourite had to be the Europa League run during Covid, it gave us fans something to cheer on in dark times.
My least favourite match was probably when we got absolutely destroyed by Barcelona in the Copa del Rey Final, or Atlético Madrid Away last year.
Which sides do you think will finish in the top five of La Liga and which do you think will finish in the bottom three?
Top five… Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, Real Sociedad and Sevilla.
Bottom three… Almeria, Granada and Las Palmas.
What are your thoughts on Arsenal?
A very good team, just a little way off of being a great team. Just need a bit more consistency I think.
If you could steal one Arsenal player for your own team, who would it be and why?
Raya or Ramsdale, our two keepers aren’t very good right now, to be honest.
What is your prediction for this match and how do you think you’ll do in the group stage?
I’d take a draw, so I’ll say 1-1. I think we’ll probably finish second, but we need to make winning advantages count.
