Adidas took charge of designing Arsenal’s kits back in 2019 and have since reached an agreement with the North London club to extend this deal until 2030. After three years of some stellar strips, here is a look at some of the best shirts produced by the German company.

2022/23 Home

It would be hard to begin this list without mentioning this season’s fine contribution. Arsenal’s home shirt for the 2022/23 season is an instant classic, with a retro polo collar featuring a neat zig-zag graphic around the rear and a singular white button. The famous three stripes blend into white sleeves with a red panel, giving the badge and now iconic sponsor space to stand out.

The kit is not only a classic due to its design but could live long in the memory should Arsenal’s lightning start to the season continue. Sitting pretty at the top of the table, sports betting website Paddy Power have the Gunners at 10/1 to go on and win the title. They also offer sports betting tips, including the upcoming North London derby. Arsenal’s home shirt will undoubtedly feature in this match, as Mikel Arteta and co. will hope it brings them the same luck it has had so far this season.

2019/20 Away

Adidas got off to a flying start in their first season designing Arsenal’s kits. Taking over the reins from Puma in 2019, adidas revealed an away strip which took inspiration from the iconic ‘Bruised Banana’ kit worn by players between 1991 and 1993. Think Ian Wright, Tony Adams and Paul Merson, all undisputed club legends. The modern twist saw more subtle navy accents on the torso, with a bold rounded collar and three stripes in the same colour.

While 1991-1993 saw its fair share of legends in yellow and navy, 2019-20 also saw some big names don the reworked Bruised Banana strip. Mesut Özil, Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng, David Luiz and co. made up a team that went on to celebrate FA Cup success against Chelsea, albeit in their usual red-and-white strip.

2021/22 Third

Arguably the loudest design on this list, adidas kitted out the Gunners in a re-worked version of the iconic ‘Blue Lightning’ away strips worn between 1994 and 1996 by the likes of Ian Wright and Dennis Bergkamp. 2021/22 saw the lightning detail repeated in a predominantly navy hue, with turquoise, white and red accents. This mixture of colours even applied to the two-tone adidas logo, while its three stripes contrasted in bold white.

Despite a trophyless campaign, this kit featured in Mikel Arteta’s first full season at the club, one which was also televised in Amazon’s ‘All or Nothing’ documentary. Young, homegrown talents emerged as the stars of this new look side, who helped Arsenal finish the season in fifth, just behind arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Given the impressive history of adidas-produced kits in recent times, the news of their extended deal with the club will likely be well received by the Gunners faithful. What matters most, of course, are the results on the pitch, as Arsenal hope to continue their fine form in order to secure Champions League football for the first time since 2017.
