Jack Wilshere should leave Arsenal this summer as it’s time for the midfielder to “start a new chapter”.

That’s the view of former West Ham United midfielder Nigel Reo Coker, who believes the “writing’s on the wall”.

Wilshere’s future at the Emirates remains unclear after the player admitted Arsene Wenger told him he could go last summer.

The 26 year-old has shaken off his injury woes this season and become a regular for Wenger’s side. However, Wilshere has been unable to prevent Arsenal’s dreadful campaign so far which has seen them lose ten Premier League games.

Speaking on Sky Sports News, Reo-Coker said it is time Wilshere listened to new offers.

“I think it would be good for him to get a change of environment,” he said. “It looks like it is time for him to try something new, a new chapter, move away from Arsenal.

“If I was Jack I would see that the writing is on the wall.”

The Englishman cited Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s progress at Liverpool and explained how a move could propel Wilshere’s career.

“Oxlade-Chamberlain has really started to find form at Liverpool, really started to show what he’s about,” he said.

“He’s playing what position he wants and in a style that suits him. It shows how the change of environment can work. It has been great for him and he can only get better.”
