According to reports, Arsenal and Manchester United will go toe-to-toe for the signature of Watford’s in-form centre-back Christian Kabasele.

The Congolese is also being watched by West Ham and Newcastle, even though he is tipped to extend his Hornets’ deal beyond 2021 to 2024.

The offer is not putting Arsenal off though. Mikel Arteta is keen for reinforcements following a dismal season at the back as well as the knee injury to Calum Chambers who will now miss the rest of the season.

Kabasele has impressed with his knack of intercepting and putting his body on the line.

He missed Watford’s win over Bournemouth this weekend through suspension, but the 28 year-old has been instrumental in the club’s revival under Nigel Pearson.

The Gunners have also been linked with a move for Jerome Boateng with the 31 year-old reportedly telling Bayern Munich he’s ready to leave.
