Arsenal are unlikely to sign prime transfer link Dayot Upamecano this summer after reports the RB Leipzig defender has turned down interest from the Premier League and is set to sign for Bayern Munich.

The 21 year-old is attracting plenty of attention in European football after becoming a key member of the Leipzig defence, racking up 104 appearances since joining the German club in 2017.

Despite wanting him to remain in north East Germany, Leipzig are powerless to stop clubs activating Upamecano’s £52m release clause.

Reports Upamecano set for Bayern move

Both Arsenal and Manchester United are keeping tabs on the defender, but according to German outlet Bild, the Bundesliga champions have won the race for the 21-year-old’s signature.

The report details that a deal is agreed between the player and Bayern, though a set fee between the clubs is yet to be finalised.

Mikel Arteta could not turn to Samuel Umtiti, who has been a bit-part player for Barcelona.
