According to reports, Chelsea have turned their attention to rising star Nicolo Barella.

The Cagliari midfielder had been backed with a move to Stamford Bridge in January, but no deal materialised.

It appeared the Blues had ended their interest in the 22 year-old, but could return this summer.

Arsenal have since stepped up their interest. Monday’s reports suggested that the Gunners sent a scout to watch Barella score for his country in Saturday’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Finland.

And according to TuttoMercatoWeb, Arsenal are not the only big team keeping an eye on developments.

Serie A giants AC Milan, Inter Milan and Napoli are also sniffing around. Meanwhile, Chelsea are still sniffing around, despite having a reported £42.9m (€50m) offer for Barella snubbed in January after he opted to remain at Cagliari.

Barella, who largely operates as a defensive midfielder, has scored one and assisted one in 26 games so far this season.
