Arsenal are intent on making waves this summer and could smash their own transfer record for the second time in the same window, blowing their fee for Alexandre Lacazette out of the water.

The Daily Express, citing Spanish outlet Marca, indicate Arsenal have made a stunning bid of around €140m to sign Kylian Mbappe from Monaco- which equates to around £123.3m, significantly more than the £89m world-record fee Manchester United set last summer with the capture of Paul Pogba.

18-year-old Mbappe is one of the finest prospects in world football and Arsene Wenger is keen for the teenager to become a superstar in North London, with the French boss reported to have held a three hour long meeting with Mbappe- where he stated he could emulate Gunners legend Thierry Henry.

Arsenal will still face a battle to land Mbappe’s services though as Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are both keen, each having the capability to match or even exceed an offer put forward by the Gunners.

It would certainly be a significant statement of intent from Arsene Wenger’s side though, who are desperate to show their true financial capabilities on the market.
