Arsenal are waiting for their Champions League lifeline to made official.

Premier League clubs are being to made a little longer to find out the result of Manchester City’s appeal against their Champions League ban after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) announced there would be no in-person hearings held before May 1.

After failing to adhere to financial fair play rules, Pep Guardiola’s side were banned from UEFA club competitions for the next two seasons and fined €30million (£24.9million).

City have since returned with an appeal against the findings by UEFA’s CFCB adjudicatory chamber.

However, should the ban be upheld, it will confirm that City’s top four finish would be irrelevant and the side ending up 5th in the Premier League will be awarded a Champions League spot instead.

Should the league season resume, Arsenal will find themselves five points adrift of 5th place Manchester United with a game in hand.
