Alexis Sanchez was ‘hated’ by several Arsenal players during the final months of his career in north London, it has been claimed.
The Chilean finally sealed his proposed move out of Arsenal when he joined Manchester United in a straight swap for Henrikh Mkhitaryan in January.
Rumours of a rift in the Arsenal dressing room had surfaced. However, Arsene Wenger always insisted that was not the case.
Football journalist and author of ‘Bring the Noise: The Jürgen Klopp Story’ Raphael Honigstein has shone some light on the manner and revealed today on the Totally Football podcast that the Chilean was not a popular figure in the Arsenal dressing room.
“They really felt that he was just playing up to the camera doing all these things like ‘Oh I’m trying but nobody else is! What am I doing here?

“Arsenal would put up stats inside the dressing room last year after every game showing the amount of kilometres run, the passing, and Sanchez would regularly come out with the lowest mileage by a big distance and the players would just go absolutely bananas at him playing to the camera and making all these moves like ‘Oh, they’re just not worthy of me! What am I doing here?
“So they really wanted to get rid of him. Whether they have improved as a team is a different story, but I think it is a happier dressing room.”
Sanchez has since struggled to produce the goods at his new side who crashed out of the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Sanchez played 90 minutes in the 2-1 home defeat to Sevilla.
