Jack Wilshere’s contract at Arsenal has expired.

The Englishman has now officially left his boyhood club and will likely already be in talks with potential suitors to rebuild his career.

According to reports, new boss Unai Emery reportedly told Wilshere that he still had a future at the club but his game time would be limited.

Well, former Gunner Perry Groves believes Wilshere was let go because Emery couldn’t guarantee him first-team football due to his struggles with injuries.

Groves has praised the Spaniard for his honesty when addressing the situation.

“I think with Jack, his potential has gone because of his injuries,” he told talkSPORT (via the Star).

“That’s why I like Unai Emery actually saying to Jack Wilshere ‘look, you can stay, but you can’t physically play the way I want my teams to play’.

“He wants his teams to be high energy, closing down.”

Wilshere appeared nearly 200 times for Arsenal in his 10 year intermittent stint in the first-team.

The Gunners forward has chosen to explore other options as he looks to get his career back on track.
