Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgeson has confirmed the strong reports Arsenal made an offer for Wilfried Zaha, but the former England manager claims it is‘ nowhere near’ enough.

Unai Emery is strapped for cash this summer and reportedly offer Palace £40m for their ace winger.

That’s half of the £80m evaluation and less than they sold Aaron Wan-Bissaka for – the youngster’s breakthrough year saw him leave for Manchester United for £50m.

With The Eagles holding out for £80m, no further bids being lodged for 26-year-old Zaha.

He posted a cryptic message on social media on Monday which read, ‘Life goes on.’

Now his manager at Selhurst Park, Hodgson, has confirmed that unless any offer for the winger significantly improves, then he will be staying where he is.

‘I don’t think Arsenal have actually made a bid that has come anywhere near our valuation,’ said Hodgson (via Express) on Tuesday evening after Palace’s friendly with Barnet.

‘I’m sure the player realises that if someone’s going to take him away from us, he’ll expect clubs to pay the market value.

‘Until someone does that, there’s not much to discuss regarding Wilf.’
