Arsenal could confirm a deal for William Saliba this week.
The Gunners are believed to be on course to sign the 18-year-old in a £27m deal which will see them loan him back to the Ligue 1 club to continue his development next season.
It means Unai Emery has decided that business at the back will not stop there.
Saliba is set to continue his football development in France for another year and join Arsenal in 2020.
Emery though, is desperate for a centre-half to join this summer and slot straight into the first-team.
The Mirror state that despite the Spaniard’s restricted transfer budget, the deal for Saliba is structured to be paid in instalments, meaning his arrival will have minimal effect on the boss’ summer spending.
The Gunners conceded a whopping 51 Premier League goals last season.
Former Arsenal midfielder Edu will be amongst those tasked with finding the right man after his appointment as technical director was confirmed.
