It’s been well documented that Mesut Ozil’s current deal with Arsenal is on the brink of expiration.

The Germany international will be free to depart The Emirates at the end of the season and it appears Arsene Wenger is already starting to usher him out of his first XI.

Ozil hasn’t started a game for the Gunners in over a month and has been restricted to late substituted appearances. Whether he’s simply recovering from a proclaimed knee injury or it’s Wenger sending the playmaker a message is unclear.

What is clear however, is that Arsenal have been going swimmingly without him – it’s six wins in seven in all competitions for Arsenal, who have performed somewhat of a recovery after losing two out of the first three league games.

Sanchez and Ozil were both absent from Arsenal media day.

Ozil along with Sanchez recently missed Arsenal partnership media day, to which the rest of the squad was suggested to be incensed. His lack of commitment to the cause could be seen as detrimental to the side, but should that be overlooked by his remarkable talent?

Arsenal could recoup a huge chunk of the £42.5m they paid Real Madrid for the German in 2013 if they were to sell up in the New Year.
